The mangroves are a group of unrelated woody plants that grow on protected tropical coasts. Besides being a great habitat for many endemic birds, the mangrove forest in the mid Pacific Coast is also important for the conservation of the scarlet macaw. The area is home to 250 species of birds, crocodiles, mammals and insects.
